Moved in!!! Cool man!!!

Finalmente il trasferimento é avvenuto... 17 notti consecutive in albergo sinceramente son troppe!!
E così questa mattina alle 10.30 ho fatto il mio ingresso nella mia nuova casa qui a Vancouver.
Sono davvero contento... il periodo d'ambientamento é terminato ed ora posso pensare con più tranquillità ai mesi che mi aspettano qui :) Avere una casa é un passo fondamentale!
Con Adam devo dire che mi trovo già bene.. e davvero il fatto di parlare inglese dal mattino alla sera mi aiuterà veramente molto! Perderò l'orribile accento italiano? :D Magari...
Il sollievo nel disfare lo zaino questa mattina é stato immenso!!!E vedere la piazza alle spalle della Vancouver Public Library anziché un parcheggio semivuoto ha la sua importanza!!

Finally I moved in.. 17 nights in a row in hotel are really quite a lot!!
And so this morning at 10.30 am I moved into my new house here in downtown Vancouver.
I'm really happy.. Adaption period is over and now I can think about my next months here really more easily :) Have your own house is really a basic step!
With Adam I've to say that I already feel well.. and really speaking english from dawn to sunset will really help me a lot!Am I going to lose my horrible italian accent? :D Can be...
The relief I felt this morning unpacking my backpack has been enormous! And watch from my window the square behind the Vancouver Public Library instead of an empty parking lot is important too!!!

Ieri, giornata dedicata al turismo, nell'attesa del trasferimento da Adam in programma martedì.
Bella giornata, probabilmente la migliore ad oggi, con visita al Vancouver lookout, sulla cima dell'Harbour Centre (177 metri), http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Harbour_Centre che son tanti ma paragonati ad altri grattacieli nel mondo, son pochissimi e di alcune parti di Stanley Park non ancora viste...

Yesterday, tourism day while I wait my move out in Adam's house scheduled for Tuesday.
Really nice day, probably the best one so far, with a visit to the Vancouver lookout, on the top of the Harbour Centre (177 meters) http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Harbour_Centre that are a lot but compared to some other skyscraper, they are nothin' and then some part of Stanley Park previously not saw.

Dopo qualche giorno di assenza eccomi riapparire per aggiornare le mie avventure canadesi. Ho visto che è da domenica scorsa che non aggiorno il blog, allora cerchiamo di ricapitolare gli avvenimenti passati.

In questa settimana me la sono viaggiata in lungo e in largo. Martedì mi son fatto 8 km andata e ritorno fino ad inoltrarmi all’interno di Stanley Park raggiungendo l’acquario che non ho ancora visitato. Vedere Stanley Park , da ogni volta sensazioni diverse anche perché data la sua vastità, è veramente difficile pensare di riuscire a visitarlo tutto in poco tempo. Anche questa volta mi sono imbattuto in qualche scoiattolo. Alcuni cartelli disseminati qua e là avvertono della possibile presenza di coyote… sti cazzi!! Leggendo le avvertenze di ciò che viene consigliato di fare nel caso se ne incontri uno… bé, è meglio non incontrarlo! Sto ancora aspettando di vedere un orsetto lavatore.. ma questi maledetti si nascondono!!

Ho trovato casa finalmente. Non mi sono sforzato tantissimo; ho fatto tutto via email utilizzando craigslist un sito di annunci molto popolare qui e negli States. Ho visto due appartamenti. Il primo di questi sarà il mio. E si realizzano contemporaneamente due miei desideri: 1° vivere in un grattacielo! 2° vivere con un ragazzo canadese, fatto che mi aiuterà moltissimo perché potrò parlare inglese tutto il tempo con un madrelingua. Il mio roommate si chiama Adam e la prima impressione che mi ha fatto è stata molto positiva, anche il lavoro che fa deve essere spettacolare; internet marketing e cose collegate a questo.. spettacolo, quello si che deve essere qualcosa di stimolante, altro che allo sportello in banca! Comunque il palazzo dove andrò ad abitare è proprio qui a 2 passi dal mio hotel, giusto in centro, dietro alla Vancouver Public Library. Palazzo spettacolare con palestra, Jacuzzi, stanze conferenze, sauna, sala biliardo, tutto incluso nel prezzo dell’affitto… quanto? 840 CAD cioè 520 euro al mese. Potrebbero sembrare tanti ma per una stanza arredata con bagno privato in un appartamento di 85 m2 nella location dove si trova, non lo sono. Basti pensare ke si tratta praticamente di una location come se ci si trovasse a 1 km dal Duomo di Milano. Non conosco bene i prezzi di Milano pur vivendoci a 30 km ma sono sicuro che sono più alti. Avevo visto un altro appartamento.. sono scappato. Costava 50 euro in meno ma entro e mi trovo uno che vive in soggiorno.. ma come si fa?? Il grattacielo era bello, ma dentro, l’appartamento sembrava una casa degli orrori del tipo di quelle viste a Las Palmas ed abitate da IL COGLIONE..vero Luighi? E gli inquilini erano coreani perciò niente madrelingua.

Ho iniziato a fare anche dei colloqui di lavoro. E’ un po strano fare delle interviste per un lavoro in cucina dopo essersi fatto il mazzo per un laurea, però certo qui non si può pensare di fare altro. L’agenzia da me usata ha dormito per 2 settimane e si è svegliata tutto d’un colpo continuando a chiamarmi ogni giorno facendomi spendere un casino visto che qui se non si ha un contratto telefonico si pagano pure sms e chiamate in entrata!! Speriamo di trovare qualcosa di decente e non troppo faticoso ..

After some day without any update, here I am to update my Canadian adventures. I just saw that I haven’t published anything since last Sunday so, let’s try to make a recap.

In this week I walked up and down the city. On Tuesday I walked something like 8 km roundtrip going deeply into Stanley Park till the aquarium that I haven’t visited yet. Visit Stanley Park, gives everyday new sensations also cause since is amazingly huge, it’s hard to think that it’s possible to see it in a short time. This time too I walked into a squirrel. Some advertising here and there inform about the presence of coyotes…damn!! Reading what they suggest to do in case u see one of them, well, is better not meet them! I’m still waiting to see a raccoon but these bastards hide themselves!!

I finally found a house. I didn’t make such a big effort; I did everything by mail using craigslist, a popular website here and in the States. I saw two different apartments. The first one will be mine. And in the same time I realized two different desires: 1° live in a condo! 2° live with a Canadian guy, that will help me a lot cause talk everyday with a native speaker in English will really be great. My roommate’s name is Adam and the first impression that I had of him was great, his work too has to be spectacular; internet marketing and stuff related to this, this has to be exciting not like cashier inside a bank! Anyway the condo where I’m going to live is just here near my hotel, right downtown, behind the Vancouver Public Library. Amazing condo with gym, Jacuzzi, meeting rooms, steam room, everything included in the rent. .. how much? 840 Canadian bucks, 520 € each month. It could seem a lot but are for a private furnished bedroom with private bathroom in a 85 square meters apartment in a great location so the price is right. Is enough think that is possible compare this location with an apartment 1 km far away from Milan Dome. I don’t know so well Milan prices even if I live just 30 km from the city but I’m sure that for a similar solution prices are a lot higher. I saw another apartment.. I ran away.. It cost 50 € less but I go inside and there is someone that is living in the living room..what the hell?? The condo looked nice but the apartment itself looked like an horror house similar to some house we saw in Las Palmas, like the one where IL COGLIONE was living, remember Luighi? And the tenants were Korean so no native speakers..

I started to do some job interview too. It’s kind of weird have interviews to work in a kitchen after 6 years to have a degree but surely here I can’t expect to do something else. The agency I used slept 2 weeks and suddenly wake up calling me everyday making me spend a lot since here if u don’t have a contract, u even pay incoming sms and calls!! Let’s hope to find out smth cool and not too tiring..

Un update veloce: Ma come cavolo fanno a chiamare pizza quella roba che vendono qui in Canada? Oggi, stanco di “cucinarmi” qualcosa da solo, sulla via per il ritorno a casa, avvisto un’insegna luminosa: Pizza slices only 1 dollar.. Rifletto un attimo, entro. 4 fette di pizza: 6.34 $ cioè 4 € esatti. Le dimensioni sono generose, la quantità di ingredienti pure ma è il sapore che fa schifo! Sapevo già che non dovevo aspettarmi un granché ma… Pizza Pepperoni, che in realtà significa al salame e Pizza al formaggio.

Risultato: una schifezza! Olio a volontà, formaggio orrendo.. sto ancora male! :D :D

A quickly update: How the hell can call Pizza this stuff that they sell here in Canada? Today, tired to “cook” something by myself, on the way home, I saw a bright advertising: Pizza slices, 1 dollar.. I reflected for a while..I went in.. 4 pizza slices: 6.34 $, exactly 4 €. Generous size, ingredients too but the taste..oh God! I already knew that I couldn’t expect a lot..but.. Pizza Pepperoni (it just means with salami) and Pizza with cheese.

Conclusions: horrible! Too much oil, horrible cheese.. I still feel sick! :D :D

Finally it’s time to meet someone else down here in Vancouver..and where u are probably asking?Well, in the hotel’s kitchen AHAHAHA! Well, yes, it’s right there that Working Holiday Visas guys cross their streets..and so with a mix of French,Spanish, German and English, it’s possible exchange some idea and here too, like in Las Palmas is plenty of Germans!!
I’m still stuck at the YWCA Hotel, that is my house since almost one week, waiting for the Koreans of the agency hurry up before I send them back to Seoul or maybe to Pyongyang, where surely they won’t have so much fun!!
What I have done today? Well, after a visit at the Canucks shop, local hockey team, looking for a jersey, but I gave up, after a look to the prices (429.99 $ - 270 €) for a replica shirt, 139.99 $ for a jersey like an original one but not a replica I headed to the BC Stadium.
Before, something about the Vancouver Canucks (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Vancouver_canucks) . Well, here almost nobody knows anything about Soccer also cause Canadian National team really sucks! Everyone gets crazy for ice hockey and since my hotel is right in front of the General Motors Place (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/General_Motors_Place) , their home, yesterday, for the first playoff match I saw a Canadian crowd of about 20.000 people screaming and get crazy…For a ticket they wanted 325 dollars, well, u’ll never see me!Neither for Inter vs Milan near the pitch I pay smth like that!
And so, on the way to the BC Stadium, I wanted to get into a supermarket warehouse but without the membership card they kicked me out, and I go on Canadian TV!!! Hell, yes! On CITYTV! A local channel! The reporter with the mic and the operator with the camera approach me and ask: “Well, may I ask u some question?” and I reply: “Well, I ain’t even Canadian!” And he: “Well, Didn’t u realize that a lot of people stare at u? U look just a Canucks player! Well, I don’t know anyone of them! Interesting experience that ends with the reporter that suggests me to have my beard longer so I can really just look like him and get into the stadium free :D :D
Have to admit that is true that someone was staring at me these days, maybe just cause I’m too nice :D :D Someone even asks me information! Seem that I blend with the Vancouver population :D
Taking advantage from my free time, I visited the Vancouver Public Library (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Vancouver_Public_Library) , huge! In these days there’s a book sale and I got 4 for just 2.20 $. Bargain since they’re in good conditions.
Well, I go to cook smth!

Italian meeting in Vancouver... SIN and Phone number done!

Oggi come detto ieri ho incontrato Karin, anche lei italiana ed anche lei qui in quel di Vancouver con il Working Holiday Visa ospite di parente emigrati qua dall’Italia anni fa. Dopo un pranzo tailandese,non male, ci siamo fatti un bel giro downtown e a Stanley Park.. fa strano parlare italiano dopo una settimana senza averla mai usato.

Ci sono altri italiani qui? Mah..sinceramente ne ho visti giusti un paio a parte quelli ormai canadesi.

Pratica burocratica sbrigata: SIN number in mio possesso. Burocrazia veloce, file ordinate, impiegati gentili e competenti.. esattamente proprio come in Italia.. AHAHAHA!!!!

Mi sono comprato anche il numero canadese, o meglio, il cellulare canadese. L’LG più pacco ed economico disponibile. Sono proprio entrato nel negozio della Telus ed ho chiesto: Well, the cheapest one please! Così per 55.99 $, circa 34.8 € mi sono aggiudicato un LG 285 bloccato(http://www.telusmobility.com/bc/payandtalk/handset_lg_285blk.shtml), è davvero orrido però va benissimo per l’uso che ne devo fare. 20 $ di credito incluso e via.

Ora è tutto nelle mani dell’agenzia di lavoro a cui mi sono affidato. Si stanno muovendo e spero in pochi giorni di iniziare a fare qualcosa.

Today, just like I said yesterday, I met Karin, an italian girl here too with the Working Holiday Visa hosted by her relatives emigrated here years ago. After a Thai lunch, we did a great tour downtown up to Stanley Park..it’s little bit weird talk in Italian after one week without use it.

Are there other Italians here? Well, I just saw a couple of them besides the ones emigrated here years ago.

Bureaucracy done and SIN number with me. Everything pretty fast, small and disciplined queues, nice employees.. exactly like in Italy… AHAHAHA!!!

I bought the Canadian number or better, the Canadian cell phone. The cheapest LG available. I just went into the Telus store and asked for the cheapest one. For 55.99 $, about 34.8 € I got a locked LG 285 (http://www.telusmobility.com/bc/payandtalk/handset_lg_285blk.shtml), it’s really ugly but is quite good for the use that I am planning to do. 20 $ credit included and here we go!

Now everything is up to the job agency I chose. They’re moving and I hope in a couple of days start some job.
