Reflections before a free day :)

Here we are…

E così domani avrò il giorno libero da quattro giorni di fila al lavoro. Sabato é stata una gran bella giornata ma gli ultimi due giorni ero sullo zombie andante e come sempre, quando si è stanchi, si fissa l’orologio ma il tempo non passa mai. Il fatto è che mi sveglio troppo presto… stamattina ancora alle 6.30 am!! Cavolo!

Dopo 10 giorni di lavoro posso iniziare a tirare i primi bilanci della mia esperienza. Devo dire che sostanzialmente mi piace. Dopo l’ambientamento iniziale, anche con i colleghi si è entrato in confidenza. Mi vanno tutti a genio si può dire :) E nei momenti di stanca si parla un po’ di tutto. So far, è stata la scelta giusta, un lavoro di questo tipo perché mi rendo conto che anche il mio inglese sta migliorando. A volte mi capita di usare anche il mio tremendo spagnolo :). Tuttavia, parlando con loro e non solo, mi sono però reso conto di non aver ancora visto molto della stessa Vancouver. Ho visto solamente Downtown e Granville Island. Il problema è che semplicemente non ho il tempo per andarmene in giro. I giorni liberi non sono quasi mai 2 in fila e quando non lavoro non ho voglia di fare nulla. Mi faccio qualche giretto qui intorno ma niente di più. Sicuramente avrei dovuto vedere qualcosa in più nelle 2 settimane passate all’YWCA ma ripensando ad allora, la preoccupazione per una situazione non stabile ha avuto la meglio.

Inoltre, l’andarmene in giro da solo non è cosi cool, non perché sia pericoloso, ma solamente perché è meglio avere qualcuno con cui stare. Però le mie conoscenze sono piuttosto limitate ma va bene così :) Vedremo comunque cosa combinerò domani :) Comunque anche Graham mi diceva che alla fine, in 6 mesi a Whistler nemmeno lui aveva visto quasi nulla. Semplicemente perché non si ha il tempo.

Ultimamente sto pensando un attimo a cosa fare nel futuro prossimo. Sono sempre più convinto di lavorare qui a Vancouver fino a fine settembre e nel mentre cercare di vedere se sia possibile estendere il visto. In caso negativo, farò un paio di mesi da turista… vedremo.

Here we are…

And so Tomorrow I’m going to have my day off after four days in a row working. Saturday has truly been a really nice day but the last two I was pretty much more a zombie than a human being and like always, when you’re tired, you keep looking your watch but the time ironically never moves. The problem is that I wake up too early… today again at 06.30 am! Bloody hell!

After 10 days at work I can begin to make some consideration about it. I’ve to say that frankly, I like it. After the initial adaption , I got more confident with the colleagues too. I like everyone of them :) And when the business is pretty dead is possible talk about pretty much everything. So far has really been the right choice, a work like this one cause I can feel that my English is improving too. Sometimes it happens that I use my amazing Spanish too :) However talking with them and not only them, I realized that I haven’t seen so much about Vancouver itself. I saw just Downtown and Granville Island. The problem is simply that I don’t have so much time to wander around. I almost never have two free days in a row that are the right time to see something and when I don’t work I don’t wanna do pretty much anything. I just walk around here, nothing more. Surely I had to see something more in the two weeks in the YWCA Hotel but thinking about that time, that seems so far, the worries about my not steady situation were too heavy.

Then, wander around alone to see things isn’t so cool for me, hasn't never been not because here is dangerous, just cause I always prefer have someone with me. Unfortunately I don’t know so many people around here, but it’s ok :) Let’s see what I am going to do tomorrow anyway :) By the way Graham too told me that after 6 months in Whilster he didn’t see so much stuff, just because not so much free time.

Lately I’m trying to figure out what to do in my future here. I’m more sure about working here in Vancouver until the end of September and in the meantime try to see if it’s possible extend my visa. If it’s not, I’ll do a couple of month like tourist if nothing else happens. Let’s see.
